The search began with law enforcement  taking the lead. Approximately, 10 days into the search, Wilmington PD decided they needed professional help. The call went out for Karin to come to Wilmington and find the much loved police dog.

After reviewing the case, Karin found that the sightings and leads were coming in fast and furious and from as far away as Kentucky. The decision was made to send Field Agent K9 handler Jordina Thorp to work on location while Karin stayed behind to work the case through profiling and aerial.

Over the next 7 weeks, Karin, Jordina and Officer Jerry Popp worked to find the roaming Malinois. The Wilmington Police Department remained steadfast in their determination to recover the K9 member of their law enforcement family.

On February 22, 2015, 61 days after he went missing, a lead was called in of a dog running in a snow covered corn field.  Jordina, Officer Popp and Sgt. Fithen surrounded and captured Karson. During his 61 day journey, Karson had traveled over a hundred miles.

Case Closed.
